Career
Cuţov also competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union. He was a so-called Honored Master of Sports ("Maestru emerit al sportului"). He was the brother of Calistrat Cuţov.

There he won the silver medal in the lightweight division (– 60 kg) after being defeated in the final by Howard Davis Junior. of the United States. In 1974 he won the silver medal at the inaugural 1974 World Championships in Havana, Cuba. In 1973 and 1975, he became European amateur champion. In 1974, he won a gold medal at the Balkan Games.
