Career
1922-1930 assistant professor, 1930-1935 associate professor, from 1935 professor, Tbilisi University. 1936-1941 director, Institute of Language, History and Material Culture, Geo Branch, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. From 1941 vice-prcs, from 1943 at same time director, Institute of History, Geo Academy of Sciences.
1940-1947 headed Mtskheta Archeological Expedition. Worked on history of origin and genetic ties of Geo people with peoples of Caucasus and Ancient East. Studied origins of ancient Geo state and historical geography of Georgia
Also studied Geo, Svan, Abkhazian, Adyge and other languages.
