He was a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler who played for Lincolnshire. He was born in Grimsby. Kelk, who made his cricketing debut for the side in 1984, and made two Minor Counties Championship appearances during the 1987 season, made a single List A appearance for the side, during the 1988 National Westminster Trophy, against Lancashire.
