(This book is a significant contribution to the study of d...)
This book is a significant contribution to the study of development policies and emerging trade patterns. It is unique in its approach of analyzing the factor composition of manufactures that grew consistently over time based on detailed definitions of individual products and industries in the input-output tables used. The book would be essential reading for those interested in industrialization and the pattern of trade, factor composition of trade from developing countries, trade liberalization and effects on employment and income distribution, and trade and the structure of employment in developed countries.

(The process of capability development is central to indus...)
The process of capability development is central to industrialization, but the current literature focuses on the advanced developing countries. This book, based on a World Bank sponsored study of enterprise development in Ghana, is the first to examine in detail how firms in least developed countries in Africa acquire technological capabilities. It analyses why Ghanaian firms are generally relatively uncompetitive, why some firms are better than others, and how the structural adjustment is affecting manufacturing development.

(Industrial and technological development are intertwined....)
Industrial and technological development are intertwined. Teitel presents key characteristics of both manufacturing industries and the process of technology transfer, adaptation and development. While the focus is on developing countries, the concepts apply to industrialized nations also.
