Siobhan Liddell is a sculptor. In 1990, Liddell's work was included in Witnesses: Against Our Vanishing, a generative exhibition organized by Nan Goldin that featured New York artists responding to the AIDS crisis and in 1996 her work was selected for the Whitney Biennial. Her Grants to Artists award supported solo exhibitions of her work at CRG Gallery in 1999 and at the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds in 2001. Her 2010 solo exhibition Ordinary Magic at CRG featured a new body of work created for the show, ranging from assemblages on stretched linen to sculptures on tables.
Liddell's early work often derived meaning by engaging directly with space. While moving away from installation pieces in recent years, Liddell has stayed loyal to her commitment to understanding processes and materials. Her exquisite work with paper collage exhibits her appreciation for even those materials that carry little weight.
She is on the faculty at Yale University School of Art and has lectured at universities including Dartmouth College, New York University, Pratt Institute, and Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu in Japan.
