He was the younger son of Sir George Street George of Carrickdrumrusk, brother of Sir Oliver Street George, 1st Baronet and grandson of Richard Street George, Clarenceux King of Arms.

On 18 December 1666 he was granted over 8,000 acres (32 km2) in the baronies of Dunmore, Ballymoe and Tiaquin, County Galway. Richard, who married Anne Eyre and died without issue in 1726
