Slobodan Petar was born on March 14, 1941 in Maribor, Slovenia. Son of Milivoj and Marija Veronika Rendic born Jakop.

Education

Slobodan studied at Ground and Secondary School in Osijek, Croatia from September 1947 to March 1952. Slobodan was a pupil of Ground school and Secondary school at Zadar, Croatia from March 1952 to June 1959.

In 1959 he was a student of the University Of Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia. In 1954 he received a degree of the Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. From 1968 to 1970 he studied at the University Of Zagreb. He became a Master of Science in Biotechnology in 1970. From 1970 till 1974 he was a student of the University Of Zagreb. He became a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry in 1974.

Slobodan worked as a Researcher at Research Institute, Production of medicinal plants and drugs of medicinal plants origin "Biljana" Zagreb, Croatia, 1964-1966. Honorary Assistant at the Chair Industrial Microbiology, Faculty of Technology, Department of Biotechnology, University of Zagreb, Zagreb, 1965-1966. Research Assistant at Research Institute, Pharmaceutical and Chemical Works KRKA, Novo Mesto, Slovenia, 1966-1968. Head of Biotechnology Department, Research Institute, Veterinary, and Pharmaceutical Work, Serum Zavod Kalinovica, Zagreb, 1968-1970.Researcher at Pharmaceutical and Chemical Works, PLIVA, 1970-1971. Assistant Professor at Faculty Biotechnology, Chair Biochemistry, University Zagreb, Croatia, 1971-1977. Researcher at the Institute for the Control of Drugs, Zagreb,1977-1978. Head Biochemistry Department, Compagnia di Ricerca Chimica, Udine, Italy, 1978-1980. Higher Researcher at Research Institute Podravka, Zagreb, 1981-1984. Guest professor at the Faculty of Biology, University Konstanz, Germany, 1987. Consultant in the field of toxic chemicals, Ministry of Defense, Croatia, 1992. Teaching at the Postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Zagreb and Split Independent scientist, since retirement in 2006.
