Slobodan Petar was born on March 14, 1941 in Maribor, Slovenia. Son of Milivoj and Marija Veronika Rendic born Jakop.
Slobodan studied at Ground and Secondary School in Osijek, Croatia from September 1947 to March 1952. Slobodan was a pupil of Ground school and Secondary school at Zadar, Croatia from March 1952 to June 1959.
In 1959 he was a student of the University Of Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia. In 1954 he received a degree of the Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. From 1968 to 1970 he studied at the University Of Zagreb. He became a Master of Science in Biotechnology in 1970. From 1970 till 1974 he was a student of the University Of Zagreb. He became a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry in 1974.
