In the reign of Empress Regnant Suiko, he went to China (Tang Dynasty) (607) and returned to Japan 24 years afterward. He and Kuromaro Takamuku were advisers to the Court in carrying out the Taika Era Administrative Reform (645). When he fell ill, Emperor Kotoku personally visited him.
