Sodo Yamaguchi was well versed in Confucianism and waka poetry. He strove to popularize Basho Matsuo's style of haiku poetry. Yamaguchi's style is known as the "Katsushika Style."
As 10 villages were suffering from floods in Fuefuki River, he built banks to contain the river.
