Sokichi Kojima studied at the University of Tokyo, which he graduated from in 1928.
After graduating from the university Sokichi Kojima joined the editorial staff of "Miyako Shimbun" (predecessor of the Tokyo Shimbun) and was appointed chief of East Asia desk of the newspaper (1942), to be promoted deputy editor-in-chief (1943), director (1946) and editor-in-chief (1948).
