Soko became a priest at the age of seven. He was a disciple of Shumpo of the Daitokuji Temple for 20 years.
He was a chief priest of the temple at the command of the Emperor in 1509.
Soko retired to the Daisen-in Temple in his late years. Emperor Gokashiwabara gave him the name of Busshin Shoto Zenji and Emperor Gonara that of Shoho Taisei Zenji.
