From 1899 studied at Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, then Medical Faculty, Moscow University with many interruptions because of frequent imprisonment. 1914 graduate as physician.
From 1905 member, Moscow Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Committee. Took part in 1905 December uprising in Moscow. 1907 deleg, All-Russian Party Conference, Helsinki, and 4th Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Congress, London.
During World War 1 served as army physician on Persian Front. After 1917 October Revol worked for People's Commissariat of Health and Labor. Combined medical career with Party work.
1919 army health sendee chief, Simbirsk, then Samara Fortified Region, Eastern Front. 1919 transferred to Southern Front as political assistant to chief of medical administration Contracted typhus and was evacuated to Moscow after recovery.
From 1921 head, South Crimean Littoral Health Resort Administrator 1922-1924 director, Moscow Museum of the Revol. 1928-1930 Berlin representative for Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic People's Commissariat of Health and Executive Committee, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Red Cross and Red Crescent Social.
1932-1938 member and Congress deleg, International Organization(s) for Aid to Revol Fighters. 1938-1943 senior associate, Institute of History, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. Wrote a number of works on history of Communist Party of the Soviet Union and revol movement.
