1919 graduate Volhynian Orthodox Theological Seminary. 1931 graduate Orthodox Theological Faculty, Warsaw University.
1930, while still a student, took monastic vows with name Mitrofan. After graduate from university served monastic apprenticeship at Pochayevo Monastery. Simultaneously steward of Zabludov Orthodox Monastery.
Later steward and treasurer, Pochayevo Lavra. 1934 appointed deputy Father Superior, then Father Superior, Yablochintsy Monastery, also directing psalm-reader and deacons’ courses at the monastery. At end of World War 2 in Poland.
1945 returned to Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics and assigned by Moscow Patriarchate to Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic as rector of pastoral theological courses at Zhirovichi Monastery. Simultaneously elevated to archimandrite. 1947 these courses were reorganized into a theological seminary, of which Mitrofan was appointed First rector.
Simultaneously deputy Father Superior, Zhirovichi Monastery. 1953 consecrated bishop and made Bishop of Bobruysk and vicar of Minsk Eparchy. Late 1955 exchanged with Bishop of Oryol.
1956 appointed Bishop of Kuybyshev and Syzran '-.
