Sono studied politics at Tokyo University but left without graduating in 1936 and passed the diplomatic entrance examination.
Career
Sono entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was appointed chief of the 3rd section of Information Bureau in 1946. He also served as the first secretary of the Information and Cultural Bureau in 1952.
