Soshuku Ishii began taking interest in literature from an early age and soon became proficient in humorous waka and haiku poetry. Later became a pupil of Karaku Sansho-tei, rakugo narrator.
Career
Soshuku Ishii came into prominence after the publication of his poems in book form. After this took to telling humorous stories and developed the art of the long story and also began adding a musical background to them, to become a pioneer in this field.
