Career
He plays professionally for Kandy South Carolina in Sri Lanka and is the current captain of the Sri Lankan national rugby sevens. Sooriyabandara was a schoolboy rugby player for Isipathana College. He graduated to club rugby straight after leaving school being selected to play for the Up Country Lions rugby team in 2008.
When the Lions folded Sooriyabandra moved to Navy South Carolina for the 2014/15 season before transferring to Kandy South Carolina for the 2015/16 season.
