Career
After his ordination he went to Quebec and proceeded to the area near modern Midland, Ontario in June 1625, to work among the Huron Indians, and there he experienced great hardships and sharp reversals. Choosing not to flee when the Iroquois attacked the village in which he was working, he was captured, underwent a mock baptism by boiling water, and was tortured to death with hot irons.
