Peiris was born in Kandy and was a product of Saint Anthony"s College, Kandy.

Stanley Peiris

He learned the intricacies of music at the Kandy M.G.C. institute and later joined the Sri Lanka Navy. Later he formed his music group "Fortunes",specialising in instrumental music, an innovative idea in the Sinhala popular scene. In his career spanning more than forty years Stanley Peiris contributed by music for more than 700 music albums and composed scores for about 6,600 songs in Sinhala.
Doctorate. Peiris died from cancer on 13 October 2002, at his residence in Kandy.
