Born in 1969 in Lake Como, Losi attended Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi (Bocconi University), an elite private university in Milan, Italy.

He is the author of four collections of poetry. In 1993, he received a Laurea di Dottore (the equivalent of a combined bachelor"s and masters degree) in Economics and Business Administration. He worked in the international banking industry as an executive officer at Deutsche Bank"s Milan and New York City offices, and subsequently at The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.
In 2007 he was appointed to a position at the United Nations in New York City as first officer in the office of the Under-Secretary-General.
He was raised to the rank of officer (Ufficiale) by president Giorgio Napolitano in the Order on 2 June 2010.
