Stepan Burachok was born on the 17th of May,1800 in Zainki village, Nezhinskiy county, Chernigov province, Russian Federation (now Chernigov Oblast, Ukraine). He was the son of the admiral O.I. Burachok.
In 1812-1815 Stepan Burachyok studied at the Saint-Petersburg Naval Engineering Institute, which he graduated first on the list and was left with it for 2 years as a boarder.
In 1821-1831, Stepan Burachyok headed the Astrakhan Admiralty, then carried out its reconstruction. In 1834-1864, he was a lecturer of the Saint Petersburg Marine corps. In this period he published a number of works on mathematics and shipbuilding. In 1840-1845, he was a publisher of the magazine Mayak. Until 1842, Stepan Burachyok published a magazine together with P.A. Korsakov, who published letters from Kamchatka and America of his uncle N. P. Rezanov; poems, articles on religious and mystical topics, and about the
"moral rampage" of modern literature.
His anti-western sentiments were aberrant. Literary isolation and constant losses forced him to give up publishing and literary activities. In the 1850s and 60s, Stepan Burachyok was interested in homeopathy and published a book The human body, and all of nature is a homeopathic laboratory: life productions" (Saint Petersburg., 1869). He continued shipbuilding activity. Stepan finished his service as a Lieutenant General in the corps of naval engineers.
In print, he showed sharp criticism of Catholicism and Protestantism.
Stepan Burachok was harsh in his religious and political views. His complete indifference to "artistry" and extreme moralizing provoked a negative reaction of various literary groups.
