Audran was born on November 8, 1932, in Versailles, Ile-de-France, France; the daughter of Corneille and Jeanne (Rossi) Dacheville.

Audran was born on November 8, 1932, in Versailles, Ile-de-France, France; the daughter of Corneille and Jeanne (Rossi) Dacheville.
Audran attended the stage acting courses of Charles Dullin, Rene Simon, Michel Vitold and Tania Balachova. Also she attended the Lycee Lamartine.
Audran made her screen debut in the film "Le Jeu de la Nuit", 1957. Then in 1959 he met Claude Chabrol and her life changed. Audran`s first major role was in Chabrol's film "Les Cousins", 1959. Stephane was further stretched in Chabrol’s early masterpiece "Les Bonnes Femmes", 1960, as one of four shop girls longing to escape their monotonous existence. She appeared in many Chabrol's films, including "La Femme Infidèle", 1968, "Les Biches", 1968, "Le Boucher", 1970, "Juste Avant La Nuit", 1971 and "Violette Nozière", 1978.
Stephane starred as the wealthy society hostess in the film "Le Charme Discret de la Bourgeoisie", 1972 by Luis Bunuel. Audran played the small role of Doctor Bogdanovich in the thriller "Dead Pigeon on Beethoven Street", 1972 and she had one scene in the film "The Big Red One", 1980 by Sam Fuller.
Stephane was better employed on television as Lord Marchmain’s Italian mistress Cara in two episodes of "Brideshead Revisited", 1981 and as Georgette in "The Sun Also Rises", 1984. Audran also appeared in the English-language film "The Black Bird", 1975.
On 6 December 2013, Stephane took part in "Bernadette Lafont l'exposition hommage", a public exhibition dedicated to the memory of her late friend Bernadette Lafont.
Stephane Audran was married to Jaen-Louis Trintignant. On December 4, 1964 she married Claude Chabrol, with whom she divorced in 1980. They have a son.
