Stephanie Powell

Background

Stephanie Powell was born on September 21, 1953, in Washington, District of Columbia, United States. She is a daughter of Henry Bearsdley, a hotel chain executive, and Gunilla Bearsdley.

Education

Initially, Powell received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado Boulder. Then, she continued her studies at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a Master of Arts degree. There, at the university, Stephanie studied film, television and radio.

Career

In 1985, Stephanie began her career as an interpreter of American sign language. During her lifetime, she also worked as a music columnist for the "New Texas magazine" and film critic for "Oak Hill Gazette" newspaper and "Third Coast" magazine.
