Stephen Brigidi was born on August 12, 1951 in Providence, Rhode Island, United States.
Stephan Brigidi received his Master of Fine Arts at RI School of Design in 1976, studying with Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind.
Stephen Brigidi was an assistant professor of photography at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (since 1979), and previously taught photography at Rhode Island Junior College (1978-1979) and Rhode Island School of Design (1975-1976). Brigidi worked as a photographer for an industrial and advertising studio in 1976-1977.
Stephen Brigidi has taught photography, painting, and aesthetics since 1979 at such places as the Universities of Hawaii & Connecticut.. Brigidi resigned from teaching Aesthetics in the Humanities program at Roger Williams University in 2018 to pursue his book projects and photographic research.
