Stephen Gobel, American Neuroscientist. Achievements include discovery of synaptic connections of primary neurons and interneurons in spinal and oro-facial pain pathways; discovery that injuries to spinal and trigeminal nerves cause damage to second order neurons in the spinal cord, brain. Recipient Founders Day award New York University College Dentistry, 1963, United States Public Health Service commendation medal, 1983.
