Career
Stephen Kirk founded Cable London Plc along with Jerrold Nathan, Andrew Karney and Malcolm Gee., Broadsystem Limited, and Broadsystem Ventures, which was a joint venture with Rupert Murdoch"s News International. Kirk sold Broadsystem Limited to News International in 1990 and five years later started a joint venture, Broadsystem Ventures, with News International. He sold his stake in 1999.
In the late 1990s he co-founded a real-time astrology website with former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie and television pioneer Bruce Gyngell.
From 1999 onwards, Kirk has been involved with other companies at Board-level, including Elisabeth Murdoch"s London based television production company, Shine entertainment where he was a Non-Executive director from 2003 until 2011 when the company was sold to News Corporation for $670m. In May 2006, Stephen Kirk was named runner-up at the Non-Executive Director Awards (NED) in the category of "Privately owned or Private Equity-backed unquoted companies" for his work at Mobile Commerce Limited.
The company has produced several movies including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy starring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, and Tom Hardy, and A Most Wanted Manitoba, one of Phillip Seymour Hoffman"s last movies.
