Stephen Perloff earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, in 1970 and from 1971 to 1976 did doctoral studies in modern European history at the university.
Stephen Perloff has been a photography instructor and lecturer in photography history at Bucks County Community College, Newton, Pennsylvania, since 1977. He also is currently editor of (and a critic for) Philadelphia Photo Review (since 1976) and Philadelphia correspondent for Afterimage: VSW.
Stephen Perloff was previously a photography instructor at Cheltenham Art Centre, Cheltenham, Pennsylvania (1977-1978); Delaware Valley Institute, Philadelphia (1976-1978); and Gallery 3619, Philadelphia (1974-1978). From 1971 to 1976 he was a teaching fellow and instructor in modern European history at the University of Pennsylvania.
Stephen Perloff has been chairperson of the photography committee of the Philadelphia Art Alliance since 1977. His main photographic interest is black-and-white studies of architectural details.
