Background
He was the son of Thomas Taber World War II Born in Dover, New York, March 7, 1821. Completed preparatory studies.
Moved to Queens, New York and engaged in agricultural pursuits. Member of the New York State Assembly (Queens Company, 1st D.) in 1860 and 1861.
Elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-ninth and Fortieth Congresses (March 4, 1865 – March 3, 1869).
Assisted in organizing the Long Island North Shore Transportation Company in 1861 and served as its president for several years. Director of the Long Island Rail Road Company Became the first president of the Roslyn Savings Bank in 1876 and served in this capacity for a number of years.
Died in New York City on April 23, 1886.
