Knight, Stephen Albert was born on June 5, 1828 in Cranston, Rhode Island, United States. Son of Stephen and Weltham (Brayton) Knight.

Education

Removed to Coventry, Rhode Island, 1835. Educated Fruit Hill Academy, 1850-1853.

Career

Zachariah and Eliza Parker, May 5, 1851. Employed in cotton mill, 1835-1846. Clerk in a Providence grocery store, 1847.

Engaged with Parker & Knight, Arnold’s Bridge, 1849, as overseer of spinning room.

With brothers, Benjamin B. and Robert, purchased cotton mill at Hebronville, Massachusetts, 1853. Moved to Providence, 1866, as agent Hebron Manufacturing Company, which purchased the Dodgeville Mills, 1866, and Grant Mill, 1870, Mr.

Knight being agent and the business forming part of the system of B. B. and R. Knight. President Hebron Manufacturing Company, since 1899.
