He was also a lead commentator for the Olympic Games at London 2012. Radio Banyard began his broadcasting career in 1985 as a part-time sports reporter in Bristol at GWR FM alongside Jonathan Pearce before being offered the job of Sports Editor at Invicta Radio in Kent in 1988.
In 1999 he was named the top Sports Broadcaster at the North East of England Press and Broadcast awards.
