Steve Ewing was born on October 7, 1941, in Hinton, West Virginia, United States.
Steve Ewing received his Bachelor of Arts at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, in 1966. A year later, he had his Master of Arts.
Then, Ewing pursued his academic training at the University of Southern Mississippi, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where he obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1972 and five years later, the Master of Arts degree.
The start of Steve Ewing’s career can be counted form the publication of his first book, ‘Man, Religion, and the Environment: Selected Area’, in 1975. Since then, he has written many books on historical events paying important attention to the events of the Second World War. Having an academic background in sociology, in his writings, Ewing has tried to understand the reasons why people acted or reacted in certain ways.
He also authored the biographies of three Navy fighter pilots, Vice Admiral J. H. Flatley, also known as Jimmy Flatley, Butch O'Hare, and Jimmie Thach.
Nowadays, Steve Ewing serves as a senior curator at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
