He has an older sister, Kathryn Kornacki, who graduated from University of Connecticut.

Career

Kornacki is the Monday anchor of the Microsoft and National Broadcasting Company program MTP Daily airing from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time and political analyst during Microsoft and National Broadcasting Company’s daytime coverage of live, breaking news leading up to the 2016 election. Stephan Joseph Kornacki was born in Groton, Massachusetts, to Stephan Joseph Kornacki, Senior, and Anne Ramonas.

As an elementary and high school student, Kornacki dreamed of glory on the football field for Notre Dame, inspired by a friend who died in a tragic accident at the local mill.

Kornacki started his journalism career as a reporter for PoliticsNJ.com, a New Jersey political news site owned by David Wildstein, where he worked from 2002 to 2006. During this time he was pen pals with Chris Christie, among others

He formerly co-hosted a political news series at News 12 New Jersey and reported on the United States. Congress for the newspaper Roll Call. His articles have been published in the New York Observer, the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the New York Daily News, the New York Post, the Boston Globe, and the Daily Beast.

He joined the writing staff of Salon in 2010.

He co-hosted The Cycle on Microsoft and National Broadcasting Company with political strategist Krystal Ball, popular-culture commentator Touré, and conservative columnist South.E. Cupp from the program"s inception through March 20, 2013. On March 19, 2013, it was announced that Kornacki would take over another Microsoft and National Broadcasting Company program, Up, airing Saturdays and Sundays from 8 to 10 a.m., starting in April. Kornacki is currently the permanent host of Meet the Press Daily on Monday nights from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

He is a graduate of Boston University.
