(This is the second edition of "Birds of the Grand Canyon ...)
This is the second edition of "Birds of the Grand Canyon Region: An Annotated Checklist." The first edition was originally published in 1978, and since that time, a wealth of new information has been discovered concerning the Canyon bird community, and significant changes have been witnessed in the status and distribution of certain birds. The second edition, like the first, has been designed and written as a scientific monograph. The purpose of the monograph is to document the known status, distribution, and abundance of regional birds in as thorough and succinct a manner as possible. A brief background description of prior ornithological research, avian habitats, historical changes in the avifauna, and bibliography are provided to supplement the species account. New information gathered since 1978 has allowed a more accurate assessment of the status of many species.
