After winning the award Best Defensive Player 2014 In Canada, van Doten moved to Kuwait and signed a deal with First Rate (at Lloyd's) Sahel Club on January 28, 2015. Due to mistakes in the required documents, the Fédération internationale de football association blocked the transfer. van Doten will be eligible to play official games for his new club as from July 1, 2015. Van Doten is the cousin of sc Heerenveen striker Luciano Slagveer.
