Assistant Director of Artillery, War Office, 1881-1884. Member Ordnance Committee, 1884-1885. Commandant and Superintendent School of Gunnery, Shoeburyness, 1887-1892.
Major-General Commd. R.A. Brigade, Malta, 1892-1895. In command of R. A. Southern District, 1895-1897. Colonel Commandant Royal Artillery, 1906.
Commanded R.A. and New South Wales Artillery with Soudan Expedition, 1885 (despatches, medal with clasp, bronze star. Promoted Colonel); Justice of the Peace for Essex. Retired.
