Stuart G. Shanker Doctor of Philosophy,, is a Distinguished Research Professor of Philosophy and Psychology at York University and the Founder/Chief Executive Officer of The MEHRIT Centre.
Education
Shanker began his university education at the University of Toronto, Ontario. He won several awards while there, including a scholarship to study at the University of Oxford. While studying at Oxford, he obtained a First in Group of the European People's Party (Christian-Democratic Group). In addition, he completed his Bachelor of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy and was awarded the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Christ Church, Oxford.
After completing his research fellowship, Shanker began as an Associate Professor of Philosophy at York University where he quickly moved up the rank of full professor 3 years later.
Career
He is an acclaimed author and international speaker. Some of Shanker"s most notable works include: Calm, Alert, and Learning: Classroom Strategies for Self-Regulation (2012), Early Years Study 2: Putting Science into Action (2007) with Doctor James Fraser Mustard and Honorary Margaret Norrie McCain, Human Development in the 21st Century (2007) with Alan Fogel and Barbara King, and Apes, Language and the Human Mind (1998) with Sue Savage-Rumbaugh and Talbot Taylor.
Doctor Stuart Shanker is best known as Canada"s leading expert in the psychophysiological theory of self-regulation.
