Sudabeh Mohafez is the daughter of a German mother and an Iranian father. Born in Tehran in 1963, she grew up there.

Sudabeh Mohafez studied music, English studies and pedagogy.
In her family they spoke German, Persian and French. In 1979, in the wake of the Iranian Revolution, the family moved to West Berlin. She worked at various Non-governmental organizations in the field of violence prevention.
Having started in 1999, she started to make literary contributions to magazines and Anthology, and she lived from 2001 as a literary editor, translator in and director of writing workshops in Berlin.
After a few years living in Lisbon, she works today as a freelance writer in Stuttgart. Sudabeh Mohafez is author of narratives, novels and theaterplays.
In the summer semester 2007, she received the Poetics lecturer: young authors of the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences.
