(Time to fall asleep is often the most difficult time of d...)
Time to fall asleep is often the most difficult time of day for babies and small children. It's hard to settle down, and the world feels dark and scary. But God is always there, even though we can't see him. We can peacefully trust him when we remember all the good things he has done. This newest book and music CD combination by best-selling authors Sue Buchanan and Lynn Hodges teaches young children that bedtime is the best time for counting up God's blessings. The musical CD reinforces the words and pictures of the book. Count Yourself to Sleep teaches patterns of behavior to calm the heart and provide security for falling asleep more easily and sleeping more soundly.

Sue Buchanan was born on July 7, 1939, in Charleston, West Virginia, United States. She is the daughter of Maynard and Mary Jane.
Sue Buchanan attended The King's College and Northwestern University.
Before becoming a writer and speaker in 1995, Sue Buchanan served as vice president of Dynamic Media, Inc. (1978-1996), a company specializing in computer authoring, video production, and corporate meeting planning. Their clients included several Fortune 500 companies.
Rather than a speaker, Sue Buchanan prefers to call herself a cheerleader, and in that role has been sponsored by such groups as The Susan G. Komen Foundation, American Association of University Women, The American Cancer Society, Glaxo and Amgen Pharmaceuticals, Eli Lilly, and other medical and civic groups. She is available for Christian women's conferences and retreats, with such topics as "A Party Begins in the Heart," "If I Can Write a Book, You Can Write a Book" and "I Don't Know Whether to Pray or Eat a Two-Pound Box of Chocolates." Sue Buchanan is also the "gossip columnist" for Homecoming Magazine.
Buchanan's books for children include Mud Pie Annie: God's Recipe for Doing Your Best and I Love You This Much: A Song of God's Love, both picture books that deal with issues that are important to children. For example, in Mud Pie Annie, a little girl delights in her ability to create fantastic culinary creations out of mud, even as her efforts are criticized by the adults around her. Her skill in making mud pies and cookies convince Annie that despite the disbelievers around her, she has a special gift that needs to be celebrated with joy. In I Love You This Much, Buchanan focuses on conveying feelings of love to young children via the story of a young bear cub and his parent.
Sue Buchanan was a busy executive when she was diagnosed with breast cancer - with a not-too-positive prognosis. She conquered disease and the journal she kept during that time of ups and downs became her first book, I’m Alive and the Doctor's Dead.
Sue Buchanan's award-winning children's books include: I Love You This Much (with Lynn Hodges) and Mud Pie Annie (with daughter Dana Shafer); both are best-sellers.

2005Sue Buchanan is an adherent of republican political views.
As a speaker and author, Sue Buchanan's message is: "When I thought I was at the end of my life, I found that instead, it was a whole new beginning." She encourages readers and listeners to take steps to reclaim their lives after crises.
In everything she writes, Sue Buchanan has the intention to show that there are absolutes in life, that those truths are found in Holy Scripture, that following Biblical principles can be part of everyday life, and that those lessons can begin at an early age; to include some "crossroads" where the character has to think and has to make a decision for right or wrong.
Quotations: "One of God's best gifts is the gift of laughter!"
Sue Buchanan's self-proclaimed spiritual gift is an exaggeration. She charms audiences wherever she goes. Her flamboyant sense of style, which sometimes includes color feather boas, is as much a part of her persona as her tell-it-like-it-is delivery. She encourages her listeners to face a crisis head-on, then to reclaim their lives and come out on the other side enriched.
Sue Buchanan's husband was Wayne Buchanan. They divorced after almost 50 years of marriage. She gave birth to two daughters: Dana (died) and Melinda.
Dana Buchanan Shafer was an accomplished harpist and writer. Her national clientele included extensive writing for Atrium Medical Center and the Atrium Medical Center Foundation.
Sue Buchanan and her daughter Dana wrote books together, went on speaking engagements, knitted, laughed, cried, and egged each other on. Dana's death left Sue Buchanan inconsolable, and at times, barely able to function.
Gloria Gaither writes song lyrics and books. She is an experienced and highly sought-after speaker. She has served on the Board of Directors for both the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and the United Christian College Fund. She is currently advocating for Songwriting majors at several Christian universities out of her sincere desire to see a new generation learn to create songs that are theologically sound, poetically beautiful, and musically lasting–songs that will stand the test of time. Sue Buchanan's 40-plus-years-and-counting friendship with Gloria Gaither has been documented particularly in the book they co-authored with Joy MacKenzie and Peggy Benson, Friends Through Thick and Thin.
