Career
Hayman previously stood for Preseli Pembrokeshire in 2005 and for Halesowen and Rowley Regis in 2010, narrowly losing each time. Prior to her selection as Labour"s candidate for Workington, she was a councillor on Cumbria County Council and had worked in social services. Upon election, she became the first female Member of Parliament to represent a constituency in Cumbria.
In September 2015 she was appointed to Labour"s front bench as an Opposition Whip for the shadow Home Office and Women and Equalities teams.
