Larson Memorial award, 1997. Fellow American Society of Mechanical Engineers; member Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Society Industrial and Applied Mathematics.

Jayasuriya, Suhada was born on December 20, 1953 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Arrived in United States, 1979, naturalized. Son of Betty and Eva Panitha (Perera) Jayasuriya.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Sri Lanka, 1977. Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Wayne State University, 1980. Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering, Wayne State University, 1982.

Assistant lecturer in mechanical engineering University Sri Lanka, 1977-1979. Assistant professor Michigan State University, East Lansing, 1983-1987. Associate professor Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University, College Station, 1987-1991, professor mechanical engineering, since 1992, Meinhard H. Kotzebue endowed professor, since 1994, head department mechanical engineering, 1997—2001, director, Systems Engineering Program Development, College Engineering, since 2001, director, Center for Dynamic Systems and Control with emphasis on nano-technologies, since 2001.
