Career
He is the son and heir to the current Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. As such, he has half American ancestry. On 3 May 2002, aged 11, Tengku Amir was proclaimed Raja Muda of Selangor.
He will be formally installed after he reaches the age of 21.
He attended Wellington College in the United Kingdom and graduated in 2009. Tengku Amir graduated from the University of Leeds in 2014.
He is a patron of a few charitable organisations, including Chesire Home and the Raja Muda of Selangor Foundation (Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor).
