Quotations:
Susan J. Gavron told CA: "My primary motivation for writing is a desire to contribute to the body of knowledge related to ‘special populations’ and to replace ignorance and bias toward people with disabilities and other marginalized populations. My early mentors have been strong, humanistic, and thinking women in the profession."
"The idea for my book came to me almost nine years before its publication, on a plane ride across the country. At first, no publisher thought this was a worthy topic. As the disability sport movement has matured, however, so has the interest in its organization and development. It became apparent that there is now a real need to assemble a high-quality, informative, and accurate book on the subject of disability and sport."
