Background

Emperor Suzaku was born on September 1, 922 Kyoto, Japan. He was the son of Emperor Daigo. His mother was Yasuko Fujiwara, Empress.

Career

Because of his ill health, Tadahira Fujiwara, father of his consort, acted as regent during his reign which lasted 15 years and seven months. In his reign Masakado Taira and Sumitomo Fujiwara revolted in eastern and western Japan.
