Suzuki Eitaro

Background

Suzuki Eitaro was born on September 17, 1894 in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan.

Education

He graduated from Tokyo University (1922).

Career

Appointed professor at Gifu Agricultural College (1924). Became assistant professor at Keijo (Seoul) University (1942) and then was promoted to professor at the same university. He obtained his doctorate (1946), and was appointed professor at Hokkaido University (1947). Was a director of the Japan Sociological Society and councilor to the Japan Society of Ethnology.

Achievements

• As a rural sociologist, he has rendered much academic contribution toward development of the positivist school of sociology.
