Sydney Cauveren began his career in 1969 in Qantas airline as a senior crew member. He worked there till 1990, becoming a freelance writer and researcher that year. Cauveren is also a contributor of articles and reviews to journals and newspapers, including Manuscripts, Pen and Quill, Biblio, Australian Antique Collector, Australian, and Adelaide Review.
In 2000 Sydney published his book A. L. Rowse: A Bibliophile's Extensive Bibliography.
