( Three diaries from three brothers provide a unique and ...)
Three diaries from three brothers provide a unique and vivid record of service on the Western Front in World War I and typify the lost generation through which the War cut. These diaries convey a striking and immediate sense of what the Western Front was really like--from the boredom to the intense danger of life in the War. They exhibit a tender concern for suffering, while providing the reader with a graphic historical sense of this time. This is both a moving family story and an invaluable cultural and social history.
