She is of English descent. Perry became interested in pageants at an early age when she use to play with her mother"s Mission Vermont World crown and sash, but at her mother"s insistence she did not become involved with pageantry until she was a teenager. Her first attempt at winning a crown was at the Mission Vermont Teen United States of America 2007 pageant, where she placed second runner up.
