Background
He was the second son of Syed Mustofa Ali. He was born in the village of Olihara in Nasirnagar Upazila at Brahmanbaria District. His father died at his childhood and shifted to Jethagram in Gokarna union at Nasirnasirnagar.

Syed Abdul Hakim studied in Dhaka Alia Madrahah in 1901. He was a scholar in Arabic, Persian and Urdu. People used to come for earning knowledge or the solution of Islamic sciences.
He was an Alem.
Career
He was known as Jahar Ali Maulana also. Syed Abdul Hakim’s ancestor came from Taraph in Sylhet. Family of Syed Shah Abdur Rahman(Rh:) left Taraph during the notorious war in 1774 at Laskarpur court house with Ahmad Reza and Hamid Reza Gong.
