He was graduated in architecture at Purdue University in 1905.
In 1910 Mr. Keim moved to the west coast, and after opening an office in Los Angeles, and continued practice there until his early death at the age of thirty-six.
Among the principal structures he designed was the two-story Automobile Building for Harold A. Arnold at 7th and Figueroa Streets; Brunsweig Drug Store on Broadway; Hoffman Company Candy Store; Doctor Gordon Building at 6th and Oxford; Auditorium of the Beverly Hills High School; Lugo School at Lynwood, and a Bank Building in Whittier. Mr. Keim also designed , a residence for Mr. Geddes built at Wilshire Blvd. and Hobart Street, Los Angeles, and the home of Mrs. Skinner, Oak Knoll, Pasadena.
