Background
Tadabumi no Fujiwara was born in 873.
Tadabumi no Fujiwara was born in 873.
He was the Mimbukyd (Chief of Census and Taxation). When Masakado Taira revolted in eastern Japan in 940, he led the Imperial expeditionary forces against the traitor. Before the forces arrived in eastern Japan, however, Masakado was subdued. The following year, when Sumitomo Fujiwara revolted in Shikoku, he again led the punitive expedition to western Japan. This time he again failed to meet his enemy, because Yoshifuru Ono had defeated Sumitomo before the arrival of Tadabumi’s army. Tadabumi failed to be included among those who were awarded prizes for exploits in the war against Masakado. Courtier Saneyori Fujiwara was responsible for the omission. After Tadabumi died, Saneyori’s sons and daughters died one after another, probably due to a curse of Tadabumi.
Tadabumi was called Akuryd-no-Mimbu-kydt or Evil Ghost Mimbukyo.
