Background
Tadakata Ono was born in 1085 in Kyoto. His father, also a Court musician, was killed and the secret musical and dance arts of his family were lost.

Emperor Horikawa himself taught Tadakata some secret kagura (Shinto music and dances). He was appointed Chief Court Musician. The Ono family thereafter was in rharge of Court music for many generations.
